Cookie policy: categories, retention, and how to disable them

Cookie names prefixed “bgsc_” are issued by the site operator; the analytics cookies above are illustrative and only set where the corresponding analytics stream is enabled.
How can you change or withdraw consent?
You can change your consent at any time. Look for the “Cookie settings” link in the footer to reopen the consent management interface. Withdrawing consent stops further setting of non-essential cookies; existing cookies can be cleared through your browser as described in the next section. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off through the consent interface because the site cannot operate without them — you can still remove them through your browser if you wish.
How do you disable cookies in your browser?

Google Chrome

To delete existing cookies, go to Privacy and security, then Delete browsing data, choose the time range, tick “Cookies and other site data”, and confirm.
Mozilla Firefox
Open the Firefox menu, choose Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under “Enhanced Tracking Protection” choose Strict, or use “Custom” to configure cookies individually. To delete cookies, scroll to “Cookies and Site Data”, select “Clear Data”, tick “Cookies and Site Data”, and confirm. You can also tick “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed” to clear automatically at every session end.
Apple Safari
On macOS, open the Safari menu, choose Settings, then the Privacy tab. Tick “Block all cookies” or use “Manage Website Data” to remove cookies for individual sites. On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, scroll to Safari, then under Privacy & Security toggle “Block All Cookies”; use “Clear History and Website Data” to remove existing cookies.
Disabling cookies will not prevent you from reading any article on this site, but it may prevent the contact form from working correctly and will mean the cookie banner reappears on each visit (because the consent record is itself stored in a cookie).
How are changes to this policy handled?
This policy is reviewed each editorial cycle and updated where the cookies, providers, or applicable guidance change. The “last reviewed” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material update. Where we add a new category — for example, if marketing cookies are introduced in future — we will refresh consent before any such cookie is set, so previously given consent will not be silently extended to new purposes.
